Did your professor tell you to buy the latest edition? Did he/she tell you it's impossible to pass the class unless you've got the newest one? Well he/she is probably a liar. The latest edition of this book is about 95% identical to this one (as well as many other textbooks).Here's a list of some differences:1. Fonts2. Cover3. If the book uses current years in problems & exercises, then the years will be updated to the next year.Small Issues:1. Because different fonts and pictures are used, some of your material will be on different pages. This is not a big deal however because each chapter will have the exact same material... just a different page number.Example (not specifically this book):Edition 4: Chapter 5: Decision Making, Page Number 40Edition 5: Chapter 5: Decision Making, Page Number 482. Sometimes questions in the chapters are mixed around. 3 out of 3 books I had were the same questions but in a different order.Example:Chapter 4 Exercises in the latest edition:1. What color is the sky?2. If our general ledger in 2015 shows an increase in profits, how much ice cream should we buy?3. Why did an economics professor, one who should know you're a broke college student, make you pay over a hundred dollars for a book you'll barely use and eventually sell back for just a dollar or two?4. How does he sleep at night?Chapter 4 Exercises in the EARLIER edition:1. See if your professor will clarify what material you need to go over even though you didn't buy the specific book they wanted.3. Save yourself the trouble and pay $200 more than you need.I haven't seen every textbook out there. I majored in business so maybe it's a business thing. I wouldn't trust doing this sort of thing with subjects that update rapidly (like maybe science, technology, or nursing). But towards the end of my college career I became tired of spending hundreds on books I barely read and started buying only the earlier edition. In all of these books I purchased, it was the exact same scenario. Don't be ripped off by the textbook industry but use good judgement.
This book is okay and does a solid job at explaining the concepts. However, when it comes to the formulas and doing the math as examples to learn from it falls very short. The algebra has steps missing from it and I am willing to bet most of your economics professors will use a derivation form what it is the book. I would only buy as text book not as a reference.
I was kind of hesitant to whether or not I should get this book. School had already started and I needed it for my nex class. The book arrived the same week I ordered it, right on time for my nex class. The fact that is a rental is great! I will not be needing this book in the future and I usually donate them; but if someone else can benefit from it like I did, it's all a plus. The condition of the book was great; when I read "rental" and "used" I thought it would be all highlighted, but it wasn't! Way to go Amazon...!
The textbook came as describe, Amazon did a great job getting it here on time. It was the right text book that I needed for my class overall great purchase.
The book was in perfect condition. Also the book is pretty good, but is intended for students or professionals with previous micro-economic knowledge. Use other companion books to develop more knowledge on economics.
Clear and concise, easy to read and supported with practical examples. The language is reduced to simple terms and explanations such that students without prior economics knowledge can understand.
It is not the book you think it is! Totally different ISBN and the pages didn't match up either. Totally ruined my economics grade!
